Police investigate early morning homicide at Conway motel

Authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the Motel 6 on Skyline Drive in Conway, police spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said.

A shooting at the motel left one man dead and another man injured.

Woodruff said officers found Quenton Alexander, 23, of Conway, lying beside a car in the motel parking lot. He was shot while sitting in a car and died on the scene, she said.

Officers also found an injured man who told them he had been shot by a man he didn’t know, Woodruff said. The victim, who was not identified as of Sunday afternoon, was taken to Conway Regional Hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries,” Woodruff said.

Witnesses on the scene said they heard gunshots and came outside to see what was happening. They reported seeing a light-skinned black male about 5’2” weighing 150-170 pounds wearing a white shirt running from the scene. Woodruff said the living victim gave police “pretty much the same” description of the shooter.

Investigators are trying to develop a suspect and a motive for the shooting.

Woodruff said no arrests had been made and no further information was available as of Sunday afternoon.
