Detour on I-40 required for road paving

Maintenance work on Interstate 40 will require a detour later this week.

Sections of the outside, eastbound and westbound lanes of I-40 near the White River Bridge in Prairie County will undergo a final paving on Thursday, a news release from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department states.

Westbound traffic will be detoured 3-10 a.m., while eastbound traffic is expected to proceed as normal, according to the release.

The detour will take westbound motorists off the interstate at the Biscoe exit, mile marker 202, to U.S. 70. Drivers will be able to re-access I-40 at the Hazen exit, mile marker 193.

Motorists are asked to be cautious when traveling through the area.
