Head-on crash kills woman, hurts two children

A driver died and two children were hurt late Monday when a GMC truck crossed a highway centerline and hit an oncoming semi head-on in Greene County, authorities said.

Sara E. Hill, 27, of Holland, Mo., was driving a 2000 GMC truck east on Arkansas 412 shortly before midnight in Paragould when the vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a westbound Freightliner truck head-on, Arkansas State Police said in a report.

Hill died at the scene. A 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old boy in her vehicle were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. Their conditions weren't released.

A third vehicle became involved in the wreck when it came upon the scene and hit the rear of the Freightliner, police said.

No other injuries were reported.

The death marked the 230th person to die in a traffic accident in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
