Masked assailants sought after one killed, one hurt in Hope

Authorities say they are looking for several masked assailants who killed one man and injured another early Monday in Hope.

Roger Hall, 36, of Hope died at Wadley Hospital in Hope after police found him suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at a residence in the 1000 block of North Greening Street.

The Hope Police Department said in a statement that Hall was on the floor of the home when officers responded about 2:45 a.m.

A second man, identified as Lamario Henderson, 24, of Hope, was flown to a Louisiana burn unit with multiple lacerations and burn wounds, authorities said.

Assistant chief Kim Tomlin said the motive isn't known.

"We are working and trying to figure all of it out," she said, noting police have one victim who "can't help us at all" and another who still needs to be questioned further.

Tomlin said she didn't know Henderson's condition but he was conscious and talking when authorities responded. Detectives were planning to speak with him at the burn unit Monday.

Tomlin said she couldn't release information beyond the statement, which said witnesses reported "masked suspects" being involved and that they may be tied to a black Dodge Magnum with Texas tags.
