Consolidated Plan Listening Sessions
HOT SPRINGS — The city of Hot Springs continues a series of topic-based listening sessions to obtain the views of residents and various organizations interested in the development of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2014-2019 Consolidated Plan. Swimming Lessons
HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Swimming lessons for children ages 1 and older will be offered Monday through Friday through the summer at the DeSoto Pool. The fee is $30 per child per one-week session. Children are placed in class levels according to their swimming ability. Classes are held at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sessions will be held July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26 and July 29-Aug. 2. Infants/toddlers (1-3 years) will only be allowed to attend the July 8-12 and July 15-19 sessions from 10-11 a.m. A parent or guardian is required in the pool with each infant or toddler. Ageless Bikers Club Rides

Summertime Shuttle
HOT SPRINGS — The Mountain Xpress, a free shuttle bus that takes visitors through the downtown historic and arts district, will run at 30-minute intervals from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through Sept. 2. The air-conditioned buses have bike racks, and drivers will provide information about areas traveled. Free parking will be available for shuttle riders at the Hot Springs Convention Center parking lot, 134 Convention Blvd.; at Transportation Plaza, 100 Broadway Terrace; and at the Exchange Street Parking Plaza on Central Avenue. Health Walks in the Gardens
HOT SPRINGS — Guided health walks at Garvan Woodland Gardens take place twice a week: a three-mile walk at 9 a.m. Mondays, and a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Walkers meet at the Welcome Center. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. No reservations are needed. The guided walks are free to members, and nonmembers pay regular gardens admission.
Summer Food Service Program
MALVERN — The Central Arkansas Development Council is offering the Summer Food Service Program from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday through July 12 at the Stella Smith Boys and Girls Club, 1840 W. Photography Competition
HOT SPRINGS — The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs will hold a photography competition, open to all photographers age 16 or older residing in the United States. All forms of photography will be accepted. The entry deadline is July 9, with a registration fee of $35 for one to three artworks or $25 for members of The Fine Arts Center of Hot Springs. Energy-Efficiency Makeover Contest
BENTON — Applications are due July 15 for the 2013 Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas’ $50,000 Energy-Efficiency Makeover Contest. Contestants must reside in Arkansas, be a member of a participating Arkansas electric cooperative, and own and occupy an all-electric home.
