A woman was killed and a man injured early Sunday when the all-terrain vehicle they were on was hit and flipped several times, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Passenger Patricia S. Green, 41, of Malvern died and driver James T. Truett Jr., 40, of Hot Springs, was injured when they were ejected from a Polaris ATV around 2:16 a.m., officials said.

Truett and Green were traveling north on Arkansas 7 in Garland County near Schwinn Hills Road when Mark A. Helton, of Hot Springs, who was northbound on Arkansas 7 in a 1994 Chevy, hit the ATV in the back causing it to flip several times and eject both passengers, officials said.

Truett and Green were transported to Mercy Hospital, where Green was pronounced dead at 3:49 a.m., the report states.

Helton was not injured, according to the report. Truett’s condition was not available Sunday.

Police said conditions were clear and dry in the area.

Green was the 245th person to die on Arkansas roadways this year, according to preliminary reports.
