LITTLE ROCK UALR scored 5 runs on 11 hits, but left 9 runners on base and committed an error in Thursday’s loss at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.
Outfielder Ben Crumpton led the Trojans (5-3), going 2 for 5 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored. First baseman John Clark went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI, outfielder Bryson Thionnet went 2 for 3 with a run scored and catcher Blake Johnson went 2 for 4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
First baseman Casey Gillaspie led Wichita State (2-3), going 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI. Catcher Tyler Baker went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI and third baseman Erik Harbutz went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Wichita State starter A.J. Ladwig (cq) (1-1) got the victory, allowing 4 runs, all earned, on 8 hits, striking out 6 and throwing 1 wild pitch in 5 innings. UALR starter Chad Bradford (0-2) took the loss after allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits, walking 2, striking out 2 and throwing 1 wild pitch in 2 innings.
