David Guarno went 3 for 3 with a home run, Chance Cleveland allowed four hits in 7 1/3 innings and UALR (6-3) beat Iowa (3-4) on Friday at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

Ben Crumpton finished 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and scored 2 runs. Blake Johnson also had two hits and drove in a run.

Guarno hit an RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. With UALR leading 2-0 in the fourth inning, Guarno hit a home run off Iowa starter Sasha Kuebel.

In the bottom of the fifth, Crumpton doubled, stole third base and scored when the throw from Iowa catcher Dan Sheppard went into left field. John Clark’s RBI fielder’s choice made it 5-0.

Cleveland (2-1) allowed 2 runs, none earned, and walked 2, but hit 7 batters. Iowa, though, left 12 runners on base.

ARKANSAS STATE 5, SAM HOUSTON STATE 3

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Ryan Emery hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie and Arkansas State (7-2) held on to beat Sam Houston State (4-5) at Don Sanders Stadium.

Zack George led off the ninth with a single. Austin Baker came on to pinch run for George and moved up to second on Dustin Jones’ ground out. Logan Uxa was intentionally walked and went to second on a wild pitch by Sam Houston State reliever Jason Simms. Simms then intentionally walked Claude Johnson to load the bases for Ryan Emery.

Emery singled off Bearkats reliever Derek Barosh to center field to score Balker and Uxa to give the Red Wolves a two-run lead. Alex Potts lined into a double play to end the inning.

Chandler Hawkins pitched 2 1/3 innings to earn the victory in relief for ASU. He allowed one hit and struck out three.

John Koch started for ASU, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 6 hits in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out four and walked three.

George and Uxa each went 2 for 4 to lead the Red Wolves. Ryan Roberts had a two-run single in the top of the eighth to tie the game at 3-3.

SOUTHLAND CENTRAL ARKANSAS 11, NEW ORLEANS 1

CONWAY - Forrestt Allday went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI to lead Central Arkansas (9-1) to a victory over New Orleans (0-10) at Bear Stadium.

Caleb McClanahan (3-0) pitched eight shutout innings, striking out five. He didn’t walk a batter.

Ethan Harris finished 2 for 5 with 3 RBI. Michael Marietta had two hits and drove in three runs.

UCA took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third on Allday’s RBI single, which scored Justin Treece. The Bears scored four runs in the fifth for a 5-0 lead. UCA had four hits in the inning, including Allday’s second RBI single, a run-scoring walk by Blake Marchal and sacrifice flies by Jonathan Davis and Marietta.

Allday’s fielder’s choice in the sixth scored Garrett Brown for a 6-0 lead. UCA extended its lead to 8-0 in the seventh on Harris’ two-run double and 11-0 in the eighth thanks to Marietta’s two-run single and Harris’ RBI single.
