As the eighth week of this year’s legislative session begins, Arkansas lawmakers are discussing a proposal to cap state spending while Gov. Mike Beebe decides whether to veto another abortion bill.
House lawmakers this week are expected to vote on a Republican proposal to limit increases in government spending. The measure would link the average expenditure limit to the average growth of personal income in the state.
Also this week, Gov. Beebe must decide whether to veto legislation that would ban most abortions at 12 weeks into a pregnancy. Beebe has said the measure is more constitutionally-problematic than the 20-week abortion restriction he vetoed last week.
The 20-week measure became law after the House and Senate voted to override Beebe’s veto.

Great way to guarantee that there will be little or no growth in personal incomes. Force limits on government spending on education, roads, training, etc.
