Deal to buy Pine Bluff's SAJ Distributors finalized

The acquisition of Pine Bluff-based SAJ Distributors by a New York-based distributor has been finalized, according to a Tuesday statement.
The purchase was initially announced in November but was just recently finalized.
L&R, a national distributor of more than 30,000 products, will keep open the distribution center and offices in Pine Bluff, the company said in the statement.
L&R will also retain the SAJ name and "necessary" staff members in customer service, accounting, purchasing and operations, it said. The sales staff, delivery methods and inventory mix will also be retained, the company added.
L&R says this will, "ensure a 'no change' turn-key solution for the existing SAJ family of customers." L&R will introduce new items, categories and promotional programs to the SAJ Division, already available to L&R customers.
L&R was founded in 1956 and is based in Brooklyn, N.Y. with distribution centers in Brooklyn; Deer Park, N.Y.; and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., according to the company's website.
