Dr. Clark Fincher, of Searcy, spoke to the crowd at the AR Jobs + AR Health Rally on the front steps of the Capitol on Thursday morning. The rally was held to increase support for state Medicaid.
On the front steps of the state Capitol, Gov. Mike Beebe spoke to supporters at the Arkansas Health and Jobs Coalition rally, relaying a message of continued support for Medicaid in Arkansas.
During his speech, Beebe told the crowd that while the federal government in Washington, D.C., is working in its own Medicaid issues, he vowed that "Arkansas will not be left out."
Hundreds attended the rally, which was held to increase support and urge the Arkansas Legislature to focus on the pending Medicaid expansion.
Along with Beebe, Republican state Sen. Jonathan Dismang of Searcy; Dr. Clark Fincher, also of Searcy; and Scott Street, president of Mercy Hospital in Northwest Arkansas spoke on behalf of the cause.
Dismang, considered the lead Republican in the issue, spoke on a platform of getting medical assistance to those in Arkansas who need it.
