Jockey Calvin Borel won his 5,000th career race Thursday afternoon.
The 46-year-old jockey got the landmark victory aboard Hezunusal in the sixth race at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. The victory paid $11.20.
Borel, who has won three Kentucky Derbies (2007, 2009 and 2010), rode the chestnut gelding to victory in the six-furlong race — a $15,000 maiden claimer.
The St. Martin Parish, La., native had been without a win in his last 20 races and missed the first three weeks of the Oaklawn Spring Meet with a broken wrist. Borel last won a race Dec. 28 aboard Malibu High at Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.

$11.20? Wow, I never realized how little jockeys make.

Borel is a toothless, classless, ignorant jockey....but at least he can speak English and has a birth certificate, unlike so many in this profession. He's an American whose job has not been taken over by foreigners.

DRs01,
Do you believe that you are entitled to the good life by virtue of your noble birth? People should be judged neither by their level of education nor their physical appearance, but by the content of their hearts.

Thank you, Tracy. I agree with you, as do most Americans. Unfortunately, the ones who know the least, speak the loudest. ----in regards to #5000, CONGRATS, CALVIN!!! ( I've won many a race with you aboard the pony.) Wish I'd been there.
