‘Bishop of Jazz’
Rio Clemente, billed as “The Bishop of Jazz,” will perform on a 7-foot Steinway grand piano at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluff Country Club, 1100 Country Club Lane, Pine Bluff. Children’s concert
The Conway Symphony will put on a children’s concert titled “Enchanted Tales” at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall, University of Central Arkansas, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The orchestra will perform Maurice Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite, with onstage help from UCA theater students and professor Chris Fritzges, and Carmen Fantasy for Flute and Orchestra by Francois Borne, with UCA Concerto winner Simona Donova as soloist. The North Little Rock Community Concert Band will open its 2013 season at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Patrick Henry Hays Center, 401 W. ‘Hidden’ photos
“Hidden Arkansas,” an exhibition of 50 photos by 11 Arkansas photographers working from the theme, “What in Arkansas is hidden to you?,” opens with a reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Theatrical tinkering
Tinkerers from around the state will convene, 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main St., Pine Bluff, for Tinkerfest 2013. Participants can learn theatrical production prop, costume and makeup-making techniques, including restoring and re-appropriating old clothes; fantasy mask-making on a budget using household items; using latex and crepe hair to build wigs and facial hair; and how to make automatons, shadow puppets, robot hands, dolls and sugru, a hand-formed, self-setting rubber. The Pitch, Hit & Run baseball competition originally scheduled for March 2 has been rescheduled for noon March 16 in Jacksonville’s Dupree Park.
