Arkansas House Speaker Davy Carter says he’s reviewing constitutional concerns that have been raised about a bill to require voters to present a photo ID before casting a ballot.
Carter said Monday that some lawmakers told him they plan to object to the bill on the grounds that it failed to capture a two-thirds majority of votes — 24 votes — when it passed the Senate on a 23-12 vote last month.
The opponents say a supermajority is required because the voter ID bill would change the state’s permanent voter registration system established under Amendment 51 of the Arkansas Constitution.
Carter says the House won’t vote on the bill Monday. He says he’s evaluating the legal issues and expects the House to take some action on the measure on Tuesday.

A solution for a nonexistent problem. Any sane person knows what's REALLY behind the "Voter ID" drive...and it isn't pretty.

How many instances of someone impersonating someone else at the polls have been documented in Arkansas, or anywhere else?

Inquire,
In the three years that I oversaw ballot security for the Republican Party of Arkansas, I do not believe that there was one instance of people impersonating others at the polling place. There were a few problems with the dead voting absentee and suspicious problems with machines and ballot boxes, etc. and rumors of precincts for sale, but not one instance of people impersonating others. Of course, one would not want to commit a felony for a single vote. If people are going to cheat, it would be larger scale and not impersonation of a single voter. The Republicans are just trying to make it harder for people to vote.

I think someone of the right thinking side on here said this already but why not do the purple finger thingy. The type banks use to mark money that can't removed so easily. It's a shame our process is so corrupt that people without ID can vote many times.

There is very little corruption in voting in the US and what there is of it is mostly Republicans pulling stunts like sending letters to voters in Democrat leaning areas that they need to vote on a different day, or closing down early voting to make it difficult for working people to vote, or creating voting rules to solve non-problems to make it difficult for average people to vote and finally the biggest is wealthy Republicans poring 100's of millions of dollars into elections to bamboozle the electorate with wildly false information.
