Emergency crews respond to an accident involving an 18-wheeler Tuesday evening on Interstate 530 south of Little Rock.

A Pine Bluff woman has died in a Tuesday afternoon accident on Interstate 530 south of Little Rock, state police confirmed.

Arkansas State Police Sgt. Eric Agee said the accident, which involved an 18-wheeler, occurred about 4:58 p.m. near the Pratt Road and 145th Street exit.

Marianne Smith, 22, of Pine Bluff, died at the scene, Agee said.

While officials could not immediately confirm how the accident occurred, Smith's vehicle did appear to be under the 18-wheeler.

Both southbound lanes on I-530 near the accident were blocked for some time during the rush-hour period, but traffic was moving slowly in both directions shortly after 6 p.m.
