The first in a series of prescribed burns aimed at preventing an unintended forest fire is planned Wednesday at Burns Park in North Little Rock.
Park officials say the burn will start about 10 a.m. and continue through the mid-afternoon. Some parts of the park will be closed during the work.
Wednesday was picked because the wind conditions are such that the smoke is expected to "rise up and away with minimal, temporary impact to the area," the park said in a statement.
Nearby residents are encouraged to close their windows.

I plan to call the LRFD and see if I can use my burn permit Wed. They wouldn't let me use it Saturday, during the rain, due to wind.
