CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas' Faculty Senate is recommending that its campus not allow concealed handguns, despite a new state law that allows faculty members to carry the weapons.
The Log Cabin Democrat reports that the Faculty Senate passed a resolution Tuesday to support President Tom Courtway's stance to ban the concealed weapons.
The gun law, which was passed by the Legislature last month, won't take effect until 90 days after the Legislature adjourns.
UCA Police Chief Larry James has said that his department opposes the concealed weapons, saying campus should be "sanctuaries" that are gun-free.
The final decision rests with UCA's Board of Trustees.

Just make sure the law breakers, rapists and those who would assault law abiding students get the memo that the UCA campus is a "sanctuary" with No Guns...so they feel empowered and free to assault with no chance of their victim having any method of self defense.

Chief James, can you guarantee the UCA campus will not have anyone carrying a firearm on UCA property? If you think you can answer "yes" to that question, you, sir, are living in a dream world! Do some research and see how many "mass shootings" have occurred in "gun free zones." Of course, you already know that from the publicity. Go ahead, stick your head in the sand and pray you never have to face a "crazed killer!"

common sense told us the earth was flat.
"fair", "balanced", "common sense" - all words used to fool you into accepting the lie.

Somehow commonsense and sanity tells me that the best way to preserve peace on campus is for those who wish to create a disturbance to be on notice that they are going to be in big trouble if they disturb the peace and tranquility of the campus.

All should feel safe on that campus. It's a no brainer that no crimminals will bring firearms on to that campus now that it's a "sanctuary". We know it's safe because the internet says so. LMAO!!! Chief you better hope your "gun free sanctuary" is just that. Oh by the way does this mean you and your dept. will be leaving your service sidearms at home? Remember the campus needs to be "gun free".

If someone gets assaulted, raped, or killed on campus, I hope UCA is sued for millions since they are prohibiting self protection yet would be failing to provide protection. That make them culpable. So sue all who voted and the university.

The POLICE will.still have guns. No way a campus would be safer with a bunch of kids packing all the time. Thank goodness. Hopefully every school will have the same common sense.
