The 3-year-old boy who was struck in a hit-and-run accident in a Sherwood apartment complex died Wednesday, the county coroner said.
Jaylen Diggs died about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, two days after the hit-and-run at the Park Crest Apartments parking lot at 100 Manson Road, Coroner Gerone Hobbs said.
The hit-and-run happened shortly before 7 p.m. Monday. Sherwood police said a red sport utility vehicle or pickup struck the boy. The child was rushed to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, where he was initially admitted in critical condition, police said.
Police are still searching for the driver of the red vehicle and ask anyone with information to call the department at (501) 835-1425.
