A 22-year-old North Little Rock woman is accused of threatening to kill a woman and then opening fire from an apartment balcony.

Jacklyn Johnson was arrested Thursday afternoon on a charge of aggravated assault. She remained in the Pulaski County jail Friday morning with bail set at $25,000.

According to a North Little Rock Police Department arrest report, Johnson admitted pulling out the gun when the victim went to the apartment in the 600 block of East 19th Street and threatened to assault her.

Police say Johnson threatened to kill the victim before shooting once toward a grassy area. The victim was not hit.

"Johnson said she pointed the gun in the victim's direction but did not mean to fire the weapon," police wrote in the report.

Johnson gave the gun to a friend to "get rid of it" and was hiding in a closet when authorities arrived at the apartment, the report says.

She was arrested, and the gun was later recovered.

Another lovely day in Eastgate Terrace Housing Project.
Note to Dimwits, a closet is not a great hiding place.

Someone please educate the author of this article - to "open fire" implies a barrage of shots - not a single shot into the grass!

Question - if someone comes and threatens you with assault and you have a gun - what are YOU going to do?

And no - I'm not saying the shooter in this case was telling the truth (or not) - simply an observation.

@TheBatt: where is it written that 'open fire' implies a barrage of shots? I never heard that before and always thought it implies a person began firing the gun, whether it be a single shot or a series of shots. Just curious, but I would like to know.
