Daffodil Show

CONWAY — The 51st annual Arkansas State and Southern Regional Daffodil Show will continue from 1-4 p.m. today at the Faulkner County Library. Admission is free. The Arkansas Society will also have its second Daffodil Photography Exhibit and Contest. For more information, call (501) 327-7482.

Birdseed Order Deadline

FAIRFIELD BAY/CLINTON — Orders for the Little Red River Audubon Society’s Great Backyard Birdseed Sale are due today. Turn in order forms to any society member, call Carolyn Goettsch at (501) 723-4744 or Bob Hartmann at (501) 745-6615, or email Pat at LRRA2011@gmail.com. Payment may be made when orders are picked up. Pickup will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Simmons Bank on Dave Creek Parkway in Fairfield Bay, and from noon to 2 p.m. March 24 at Archey Fork Park in Clinton. Specify a pickup location when ordering.

AARP Meeting

CONWAY — The Conway AARP Chapter will meet at the Conway Senior Citizens Center. Lunch will be Dutch treat at 11:30 a.m., followed by the meeting and program at 12:15 p.m. DeWayne Tyus will demonstrate senior strength-training exercises. Everyone is invited to attend.

Donkey Basketball

LESLIE — Donkey Basketball, a fundraiser for the Leslie Homecoming, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Leslie Intermediate School gym. Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the gate. Children under 5 will be admitted free. Members of Leslie American Legion Post 131 will work in the concession stand. Van Buren County Retired Teachers

CLINTON — The Van Buren County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Western Sizzlin in Clinton. Sharon Boyd Johnson, activities director for the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association, will talk about the legislative activities that relate to the retirement system and provide information about travel opportunities through the ARTS. Parson-Barnett Grant application forms will be available for members to give to any currently employed teacher who wants to apply for the $1,500 grant. Members will be asked to complete volunteer forms, and officers for 2013-2014 will be elected. The Scholarship Committee will present its recommendation for the selection process for awarding scholarships.

Faulkner County Retired Teachers

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Retired Teachers Association will meet at 1:30 p.m. in the Activity Center of First Baptist Church. Jack Bell, assistant to the mayor of Conway, will speak on Growth, Needs and Progress. All who have retired from any position in education are welcome.

Website Seminar

DARDANELLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present a free Website in a Day seminar for small-business owners from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dardanelle Area Chamber of Commerce. Stroke Survivors Support Group

CONWAY — Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has begun a support group for individuals who have experienced strokes. The Stroke Support Group, which is open to all stroke survivors and caregivers, will meet in the hospital classroom at noon the third Thursday of each month, beginning this Thursday. At the first meeting, Gina Sifford, community resource specialist with the Division of Aging and Adult Services, will discuss options for long-term care. For more information, call (501) 514-4925.

Writers Craft Lecture Series

CONWAY — The Conway Creative Writers and the Faulkner County Library will host a lecture series titled Building Great Sentences: Exploring the Writer’s Craft. Classes will meet at 2 p.m. March 17 and April 5. These video presentations are a part of The Great Courses series and are made possible by a donation from Shirley Barham. Cherokee Bingo Fundraiser

CONWAY — Cherokee Bingo will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at Bob’s Grill in downtown Conway. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for dinner, with bingo mini packs starting at 6:15 p.m. and main packs starting at 6:45 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the University of Central Arkansas Athletic Scholarship Fund.

Audubon Society Meeting

CLINTON — The Little Red River Audubon Society will meet March 26 at Western Sizzlin’. Dan Smith will talk about his experiences from his recent birding trip to Colombia, South America. Dinner will be Dutch treat at 5:30 p.m., and the program will begin at 7 p.m. Door prizes will be awarded after the meeting.

Easter Egg Hunt

CONWAY — The Hendrix College Wellness and Athletics Center and Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. March 30 on the track and turf field behind the center. This event for the Conway community is open to children ages 2 to 10. Families are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to Bethlehem House.
