A Little Rock man is accused of head-butting a police officer in the eye during an arrest Monday night.
Kelvin L. James, 29, was arrested about 10:15 p.m. at the Shell Gas Station at 3100 John F. Kennedy Blvd. in North Little Rock, according to an arrest report.
Police say a North Little Rock officer was helping two Arkansas State Police troopers take James into custody on charges including disorderly conduct and pubic intoxication when James refused to get into a patrol vehicle.
According to the report, James then looked at the North Little Rock officer before head-butting him in the left eye, causing a knot and swelling.
Police say James later warned the officer that he was a gang member and that he would "remember [the officer's] face."
"Mr. James was attempting to intimidate me while en route and while at the Pulaski County jail," the officer wrote in the report.
James was also charged with third-degree battery and resisting arrest. He remained in the jail Tuesday morning with a preliminary court appearance set for Wednesday.
