A Senate panel has advanced a bill requiring the board in charge of redrawing Arkansas' legislative districts to give detailed explanations of why the changes were made to the leaders of the House and Senate.
The Senate State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee on Tuesday approved the proposal by Republican Sen. Bryan King of Green Forest. It now heads to the Senate for a vote.
King's proposal requires the Board of Apportionment to file documents with the Senate president and House speaker that explain how legislative boundaries were changed and the reasons for the changes. The board is comprised of the governor, attorney general and the secretary of state.
