Arkansas man collapses while skiing, dies

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. — An Arkansas man who collapsed while skiing at the Steamboat ski area in northern Colorado has died.

Routt County Coroner Rob Ryg identified the man Tuesday as Robert Gawley, of Fayetteville.

Charlie Alison, a spokesman for the University of Arkansas, confirmed that Gawley was a chemistry professor at the university.

Steamboat Today reported that the 64-year-old man may have had a heart attack while skiing with friends on a beginner trail Monday morning.
