ST. LOUIS — For the second time since October, the Ku Klux Klan has won a court battle over leafleting in a Missouri town.
The American Civil Liberties Union announced Tuesday that the city of Desloge has agreed to stop enforcing an ordinance prohibiting leaflets on streets and sidewalks. The ACLU had sued on behalf of Frank Ancona and members of the Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
A federal judge ruled in favor of the KKK in October in a similar suit against Cape Girardeau.
ACLU attorney Tony Rothert says the ruling signed by U.S. District Judge Audrey Fleissig allows anyone to distribute leaflets in Desloge, a town of 5,000 residents 60 miles southwest of St. Louis.
A message left with Desloge City Administrator Greg Camp was not returned.

What on earth would make anyone think the Democratic Party or any political party had anything to do with any part of this?

So...the implication of some of the commentators in this thread is that the Republican party does not like Constitutional rights? Do I have that right?

This has to make the ACLU throw up; it sure makes me want to. But the better story is the rainbow house next door to Westboro Baptist; if that doesn't make you laugh you need help. Look it up-completely painted in rainbow colors and has a rainbow flag flying too.

Hit the urban dictionary for a full description of Santorum.
That is one sleezy, greasy talibangelical.
I rank him equal to Nancy Pelosi as a hater of personal liberty in the US.

Rick orders a club soda then whispers to the bartender "sneak some vodka into it when no ones looking", Nancy has to have someone order for her due to her face being too tight to talk, and the libertarian asks where they sell their weed

The city near here solved the leafleting question very neatly, and it had nothing to do with the KKK. There was another unpopular group that was plastering them on cars everywhere, and of course a lot of them ended up thrown on the ground and becoming litter.
The law says you have a constitutional right to HAND a leaflet to anyone who accepts it. You do not have the right to plaster them around if you aren't handing them directly to a person.
Problem solved.

Nice, Koolaid
"The original targets of the Ku Klux Klan were Republicans, both black and white, according to a new television program and book, which describe how the Democrats started the KKK and for decades harassed the GOP with lynchings and threats."

pounker....... the kkk was mostly southern conservative democrats until civil right act passed then they swapped to the republican party. As far as the kkk targeting GOP with lynchings and threats, I think you have that a little mixed up, when you can't vote why belong to either party.

DDDKA, that was really uncalled for. What in the world did that have to do with leafleting or the KKK? Studies have shown some interesting things about those who are most often rude to gay people.

Well, well, djigoo most certainly never says anything about anybody or anything....... As repulsive as the KKK is, they have as much right to hand out their materials as the GBLT associations and others have a right to hand out their materials. Did the KKK leaflets support the work of Planned Parenthod? I only ask because the KKK and pro-abortion rights advocates have similar interests in promoting abortion on demand based on abortions devastating impact to the black community.

And to sum up this thread: I'm not racist, but *something racist*. Also, the early 20th century Democrats are not the same as the modern day Democrats, except a coincidental name. Read a history book, it'll do you some good.

The Year: 2053 Two college students were talking politics after their political science course. One said "wasn't there a party called the GOP back in 2013? The other said yes but it evolved into the one now called the "Tea Party" which has become irrelevent in politics today. The first one said how did that happen? The other said the Tea Party base of the GOP took the party to the fringe far right on issues such as abortion, gay rights, civil rights, gun control, military intervention, religious intollarence, deregulation, fossil fuels, lower taxes for the rich, lower corporate taxes, healthcare, screw the enviornment and finaly all of the old WASP died and so did the GOP and you have the new insignifacant "Tea Party". The other one said Oh it went the way of the WHIG party in the 1800's. The other said exactly
The other student then said; "Yea, they stil drive to a few ralleys in their pickimup trucks with a "Don't Tread on Me" sticker and a little "Red Man" dribble running down the driver side door. They still dress up in their fatigues and shoot each other with their AR-15 looking paint ball guns just to show their son's what a man they are.
