The sport utility vehicle believed to have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run at a Sherwood apartment complex has been recovered, police said.
Lt. Jamie Michaels, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department, said the red 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe has been linked to the March 11 hit-and-run that killed 3-year-old Jaylen Diggs at Park Crest Apartments on Manson Road.
Michaels said she had no information on how or where the vehicle was located, but she said it was linked to the crime and then sent to the state Crime Laboratory for further analysis.
Michaels said she couldn't speculate whether an arrest was imminent, but noted the owner of the Tahoe is not the person who was driving when the toddler was struck.
"They're building the case file," Michaels said of detectives' work. "We're still working the investigation, and we'll present that to the prosecutor when it's ready."
Jaylen was taken from the scene in critical condition. He was pronounced dead early March 13 at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock.

Folks, there's a VERY good reason that apartment complexes have signs posted to watch for children. Toddlers are very quick and inquisitive and will often dash towards things that fascinate them like trucks. For the people claiming that this is the parents (and let's be honest, it's just more mother blaming - dad's are rarely mentioned) fault maybe you need to take into consideration that if you grip a child too tightly by the hand and they jerk away hard enough, it's entirely possible to break the child's arm at the elbow. That's how mine was broken by my older brother. (Then OF COURSE dhs gets involved...) Said parent might have thought she could catch him in time rather than risk breaking his arm. This is why people who use a harness with their kid outside should be commended for caring about their child's safety rather than mocked. The

But no matter what, this is a true tragedy and my heart goes out to the family.
