An 18-year-old North Little Rock man was arrested Thursday after a vehicle chase that reached "reckless" speeds and ended with his car crashing, authorities said.

North Little Rock police say Charles Boyd Jr. was eventually taken into custody about 12:20 p.m. on charges of fleeing, carrying a weapon and resisting arrest. He was also wanted in Little Rock in juvenile court in a robbery case, according to an arrest report.

The report says the chase started after a North Little Rock officer spotted a Chevy Impala turn without using its signal. The driver, later identified by police as Boyd, also wasn't wearing a seat belt.

According to the report, the officer turned his patrol vehicle around to make a traffic stop, at which point the Impala accelerated and took off at a "high rate of speed." The car later ran a stop sign at a "reckless" speed before crashing in the 800 block of Division Street, the report said.

Police say Boyd ran from there and was eventually tackled on Vestal Street after a foot chase. A pistol was reportedly recovered from his jacket.

Boyd was booked into the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Friday morning without bail. An initial court appearance is set for Tuesday.

I can't believe this young man would act out after appearing in Juvenile Court, you would think that when they threatened to slap his hand for being bad, he would have starting walking the straight and narrow path.

No wait, I remember now, when you are raised like a dog then you act like a dog.

Hey liberals, why don't you take the fine young man home with you?????

Love the humor Rat - So you would demand that he be born, then what? Be placed in an orphanage? Work house? You want to cut the support groups and agencies, education, and even law enforcement, then hold liberals responsible for how he grew up? You don't even know if he came from a well off family. You just assume he is poor and didn't receive a proper home environment.

Geez, they start stopping people in LR for not using their turn signals and traffic court's going to have a full house. It says police "recovered" the pistol from his jacket. Wonder why they put it there in the first place.

You know that's what all good citizens do; they take off at a high rate of speed when the po po try to pull them over. I'm SURE that could not have been his gun Beer; he seems like a fine upstanding citizen, probably a future senator. It seems like he's got a good start for that with a robbery case pending.

I'm surprised that the NLRPD patrol supervisor allowed the pursuit to continue over simple traffic violations. They usually ask the officer why he is chasing the vehicle and if the answer is just for traffic violations, he's told to discontinue the pursuit.

I hope that his tackle included a little grinding of the perps face into the pavement, sidewalk, or yard.

I'm just saying, cups, that his driving habits are pretty normal from what I see on my commute route.

Rat like your comments and Rough like your humor also... Yes, i also have make traffic violation and had the Po flip their lights on me.. Smart moves are to pull over in a safe location as pratical, put both hands on the steering wheel, (if at night turn on dome light) and be polite to the NICE POLICMEN. Generally speaking they will either give you citation with a fine to pay or a warning and not search anyfuther...You run and that is saying "Search Me, Search Me, I got something else illeagle."
1soni you are an &*%$& did not notice anyone but you assume he was poor.. I have the expectation that the parents take responsibility to teach there childern to take responsibilty for their actions. OH HECK wait 1soni parents can not disilipline their kids, the liberals won't ;et them.
