Foundation CEO to talk at LR forum

Emmett Carson, president and chief executive officer of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, will give the keynote address at a University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service conference.

The school’s Center on Community Philanthropy is holding its third annual Racial Healing and Equity in the American South conference. Carson runs the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, which gives grantsto San Francisco Bay area nonprofit organizations.

The Silicon Valley Community Foundation has $2.9 billion in assets. It is the largest funder of nonprofits in the San Francisco Bay area and also one of the nation’s 30 largest community foundations.

The conference - scheduled for Thursday and Friday - will commemorate the 15th anniversary of President Bill Clinton’s One America in the 21st Century initiative on race.

Carson will speak Friday from noon to 1 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Clinton Presidential Center, 1200 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock. Reservations for seats to attend the speech are available by e-mailing publicprograms@clintonschool. uasys.edu or calling (501) 683-5239.
