Samaritan just wrong to back up

Dear Mahatma: While speeding east near Plumerville on Interstate 40, I passed a car with a flat. Wanting to help the two beautiful women in the car, I pulled over and backed up on the shoulder. After fixing the flat, and having drinks and lunch with the ladies, I go home. My wife insists I broke the law by backing up on the shoulder. Is she right or just mad? ...
