The Drew County sheriff's office says the suspect in a Wednesday night shooting of a sheriff's deputy has been found dead.
Authorities say Deputy Jeremy Chapman was conducting a traffic stop of Nicholas Bray when Bray, 34, of Cleveland County shot Chapman twice and fled the scene.
A manhunt for Bray was conducted by Drew, Bradley, Chicot and Desha County sheriff's offices and by Monticello police. Bray was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound about 4:30 a.m. Thursday in a deer stand near his residence, according to police.
Authorities say Chapman was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is currently in stable condition.
