Officials with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department held a public viewing of concepts for the proposed Broadway Bridge redesign Thursday afternoon at the Arkansas Transit Association office.
The viewing, held from 4-7 p.m., was a chance for area residents to preview the design, color schemes, traffic patterns and plans for transportation across the Arkansas River when construction begins.
Four different color concepts were shown to accompany the bridge's double-arch design, which was done by Garver. The proposed schemes were tan and brown, light blue and taupe, silver and grey and white.
During the viewing, officials discussed the the specifications of the schemes and addressed citizens' opinions and comments.
Little Rock resident Coreen Frasier came to the meeting for one purpose — to ensure the pedestrian and bicycle lanes on the bridge are wide enough to accommodate the non-motor vehicle traffic.
In addition to interested citizens, state business representatives in the construction industry also attended to get a glimpse at the concepts.
