Owners Association Workshop and Meeting
BATESVILLE — The Ozark Woodland Owners Association will have a workshop and meeting in Independence Hall at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. Larry Morris, OWOA president, will conduct free afternoon sessions from 1-5 p.m. that will include a panel discussion with Tanner Johnston of the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Kenny Smothers of the Arkansas Forestry Commission and Stan Carter of the Extension Service. Tamara Walkingstick will speak on “Women as Forest Landowners,” and Rusty Rumley of the National Agricultural Law Center will talk about hunting leases and contracts. At 6 p.m., the group will have a barbecue dinner, and speaker Jason Milks of the Nature Conservancy will address landowners’ problems concerning last year’s drought. One-Act-Play Contest
SEARCY — The Performing Arts Center on the Square is accepting submissions for its first original-one-act-play contest. All subject matter is welcome. Submissions are due by 4 p.m. May 15 and must be double-spaced with the speaker in bold. Stage direction should be in italics. The play should be a minimum of 30 minutes long or 25 to 40 pages. Pages should be numbered. The cover page should list the title of the play and the author’s name, address, email and phone number. The author’s name should be only on the cover sheet to allow for blind judging of the entries. Scripts will not be returned, and no royalties will be paid. Quarter Mania

Locker Hooking Workshop
POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will hold a locker hooking workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 6. The fee for the event is $15. This workshop teaches participants the art of locker hooking — an old craft using scrap fabric to make rugs, place mats, chair-seat covers, handbags and more. Participants will learn how to design patterns on canvas, cut the fabric and use the locker hook and yarn to create mats of all styles. The registration fee includes all materials. SALEM — The Salem Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual spring communitywide yard sale in the Salem area April 12 and 13. Heroes for Health
