Hundreds gathered in downtown Little Rock's River Market on Sunday morning for the community Easter Sunrise service.

The non-denominational service was hosted by Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church. Rev. Britt Skarda, Senior Pastor of Pulaski Heights United Methodist, conducted the sermon.

Gov. Mike Beebe was among the speakers that included Fox 16 news anchor Donna Terrell, former Miss Arkansas Sharon Bale and former Arkansas Razorback Anthony Lucas.

Choirs from Philander Smith College, Pulaski Heights United Methodist and North Little Rock High School also performed.

The service is usually held at the Riverfront Amphitheater on the bank of the Arkansas River, but the potential for rain pushed the event into the Farmers Market.

An offering was collected for the Cord Blood Bank of Arkansas. The UAMS charity researches new treatments for a variety of degenerative illnesses, and also helps with cancer treatment.
