Teddy Bear Sleepover

BENTON/BRYANT — The Saline County Library will host a Teddy Bear Sleepover for children of all ages at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Mabel Boswell Memorial Library in Bryant and at 6 p.m. May 16 at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton. Attendees are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal for a special story time that will include songs, snacks, games and prizes. Afterward, children are encouraged to leave their stuffed animals at the library overnight for a sleepover and pick them up the next day. V-E Day Display

BENTON — All ages are invited to commemorate V-E Day from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library. Utility Assistance

BENTON — The Central Arkansas Development Council offers crisis-intervention assistance to families in Saline County with disconnect notices in the Crisis Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program. Applicants must have a disconnect notice with a disconnect date within seven days of the application date, meet income guidelines and furnish proof of all household income for the month prior to applying. Health Walks in the Gardens

HOT SPRINGS — Two of Garvan Woodland Gardens’ most avid walkers lead guided health walks in the gardens once a week. Anthony Chapel singer Sharon Turrentine leads a three-mile walk at 9 a.m. Mondays. Garvan Woodland Gardens staffer Paula Wallace leads a one-mile walk at 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Walkers are invited to meet at the Welcome Center to join the groups. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. No reservations are necessary. The guided walks are free to members, and regular gardens admission applies for nonmembers.

Head Start Survey, Applications

CLARK/HOT SPRING COUNTY — Central Arkansas Development Council Head Start centers in Clark County are conducting a target-area survey to determine the number of preschool children eligible for the Head Start program. Junior Volunteer Program

HOT SPRINGS — National Park Medical Center is accepting applications for the 2013 Junior Volunteer Summer Service Program, to be held June 10 through Aug. 9. The program teaches teens ages 14 to 18 about the health care industry through observation of various hospital departments and volunteering at the hospital.
