South Main road plan topic of meeting

A public hearing has been set on plans to convert a stretch of South Main Street from four lanes to three lanes plus bike lanes, the city of Little Rock has said.

The stretch runs from Interstate 630 south to Roosevelt Road. Current parking lanes wouldn't be affected by the road work, the city has said.

The public meeting will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Rufus K. Young Christian Church, 2020 S. Main St. in Little Rock.

Officials from the city's Department of Public Works traffic engineering and civil engineering divisions will be on hand to discuss the proposed changes, hear public input and address traffic and safety concerns, the department said.
