William R. Bowes has been named the next University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences chief financial officer.

The university made the announcement in a Friday news release.

Bowes is scheduled to take the position July 1.

Bowes has worked 32 years in higher education finance, 26 of those in a senior management position, the university said.

His last position was as the chief financial officer for the Connecticut Colleges and State Universities Board of Regents for Higher Education.

"I look forward to using that experience to help UAMS during a time of great change in the health care environment and to promote its mission of continuing to meet the health care needs of all Arkansans,” Bowes said in the release.
