Little Rock police are investigating a double homicide at a residence near 33rd Street and Martin Luther King Drive.

Sgt. Cassandra Davis said a man arrived at a home at 1513 W. 33rd St. on Monday morning and inside found his two friends dead. Police responded shortly after 11 a.m.

Police identified the victims as 40-year-old Bobby Broadway Jr. and 32-year-old Natasha Avery.

"What we've been told is they did have guests last night up until about 12 o'clock and those guests then called to check on them or call them this morning," Davis said. "They were not able to get an answer, so they did come over. They found the door unlocked and then they found the two victims inside the residence."

The police report states the responding officer was flagged down by a person who witnessed a fight at the residence Saturday night, and had not been able to contact Broadway.

Davis said police are not releasing the extent of the victims' injuries or a preliminary cause of death. Asked whether there was a weapon in the home, she said police could not release any information on evidence.

Officers found Broadway on the front room floor and Avery in the bedroom, according to the report. Three pit bull dogs and six puppies were also discovered inside the home, and animal control officers took them into custody.

Numerous police officers are on the scene of the house, which sits on 33rd Street between MLK and Bishop Street. Crime scene tape closed off the block while investigators came and went from the house. Family members and friends, some crying, stood nearby.
