'Star Trek' boldly goes into summer movie season

No one has ever questioned J.J. Abrams’ grasp of mainstream movie tropes, and this week’s MovieStyle gives this week’s great exploding inevitable — Star Trek: Into Darkness — its due.

(For a summer movie, it’s pretty good.)

But a studio decision to delay critics’ screenings (and to slow down the flood of Twittered spoilers) means that while we’re giving you Miami Herald critic Rene Rodriguez’s interview with the director, you’ll have to look to blooddirtangels.com for the actual review.

But there’s plenty more: Philip Martin’s reviews of No (good) and Hating Breitbart (not terrible), and Dan Lybarger’s take on Erased (not good) and his interview with the director of Pussy Riot: a punk prayer that’s screening at this week’s Little Rock Film Festival (which is also being covered on blooddirt angels.com). Also, Karen Martin tells us all about The Rabbi’s Cat, now out on DVD.
