Pool Opening

RUSSELLVILLE — The M.J. Hickey Pool will open for the season on Saturday. Daily admission is $4 for adults 18 and older, $3 for children 7-17 and $2 for children 6 and younger. Individual season passes are $75 and are available at the Hughes Center, 1000 E. Parkway. Pool hours are 12:30-6:30 p.m. every day.

Audubon Society Meeting

CLINTON — The Little Red River Audubon Society will meet at Western Sizzlin’ Restaurant. There will be a Dutch-treat dinner at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. Don Culwell, retired University of Central Arkansas botany professor, will discuss Arkansas’ trees. Sacred Heart School Bazaar

MORRILTON — Sacred Heart School will host a bazaar from 6-11 p.m. May 31 and from 5 p.m. to midnight June 1 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church parking lot, 506 E. Broadway. There will be food; games; a silent auction; and a Kiddie Land, featuring a petting zoo, a basketball shoot, a bounce house, a dunking booth and more. An all-you-can-eat dinner will be served from 5-8:30 p.m. June 1 only. Boxed dinners will be delivered from 4-6:30 p.m. The dinner costs $13 for adults and $6 for children ages 4-12. Children 3 and younger may eat free. Drawings will be held at midnight June 1 for a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport 4x4, a Carnival cruise, a $1,000 gift certificate for furniture, a 47-inch 3D Edge LED/HD TV, jewelry and a trip to Las Vegas. Dutch Oven Cook-off

MORRILTON — The Arkansas River Valley Blackpot Cookers will host the second annual State Championship Dutch Oven Cook-off on June 1 in downtown Morrilton. There will be participants from eight states and celebrity judging in three categories of dishes, as well as live music and vendors. The event benefits The Cookin’ for Kids charity. Backyard Gourmet

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library will host Backyard Gourmet from 5-8 p.m. June 8, a community potluck to celebrate local food and sustainable-living ideas. Patrons are asked to bring their own utensils. Oak Street Bistro and ZaZa’s will offer samples of food, Fire & Brimstone and Don’t Stop Please will provide entertainment, and a contra dance will be held. Copies of Backyard Gourmet, a community cookbook, will be available for $15. There will also be a presentation about the soon-to-be-established seed library. Leslie Homecoming

LESLIE — The 59th annual Leslie Homecoming will begin June 11 with a beauty pageant. The festivities will continue June 15 with a pancake breakfast, vendors, a turtle race, live music, free beans and cornbread provided by the Searcy County Farm Bureau, a parade, lawn-mower racing, a rodeo and more.
