Wakarusa begins in Ozark as weather looms

OZARK — Severe weather is in the forecast as the outdoor Wakarusa Music Festival begins on Mulberry Mountain in the Ozarks.

The National Weather Service says thunderstorms, large hail and strong winds are possible through the weekend, with isolated tornadoes a possibility as well.

Wakarusa begins Thursday in Ozark, and many of the festival's 20,000 attendees will camp outside. Festival organizers say they will provide as much advance warning as possible of incoming storms and that attendees will be told to seek shelter somewhere indoors.

Headliners of this year's festival include Widespread Panic, The Black Crowes, Of Monsters and Men and the rapper Snoop Lion, formerly known as Snoop Dogg.
