Dogs from around Arkansas and surrounding states put their agility to the test Friday in the first day of annual trials hosted by the Little Rock Dog Training Club.
The competition, held at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds, featured dogs jumping through hoops, dashing through tunnels and weaving through barriers in a bid to earn the fastest time.

Melissa Snell, vice president on the club's board, said the competition can be "nerve-wracking" for handlers who have to help their dogs through the course without fault to qualify.
"But it's a lot of fun," she said Friday as dogs and handlers took the course. "There's nothing better than running with your dog and you and your dog are totally in sync running together as one whole team."
The competition continues Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m. and lasting through mid-afternoon. Admission is free for spectators.
