Conway hospital looking for financial partner

CONWAY — Conway Regional Medical Center is working to set a foundation for its financial future by seeking a partner relationship with another hospital.

The independent community hospital says partnering with another health system would also give provide more industry expertise and patient services in a time in which the health care marketplace is changing.

The Log Cabin Democrat reports that Conway Regional board chairman Dr. Bart Throneberry says structures of payments to hospitals are changing and some forms of payment will be reduced. He says some Medicare and hospital plan payments are expected to be reduced as part of the general effort to lower health care costs.

Conway Regional's announcement comes shortly after Little Rock's Baptist Health Systems declared its intention to expand into Faulkner County.
