2 pedestrians hit, injured on U.S. 79

Two people were injured Thursday after they were struck by a vehicle in Jefferson County, according to the Arkansas State Police.

About 8:15 p.m., state police were called to U.S. 79 South and North Pinewood Drive, south of Pine Bluff. Michaela Montgomery, 27, was driving south on U.S. 79 near North Pinewood Drive when she struck two pedestrians, state police said.

Megan Sperry, 23, and Justin Lindsey, 5, were crossing the highway from the southbound shoulder, state police said. They were taken to a local hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

No one had been arrested or charged in the accident, state police spokesman Bill Sadler said.
