Green Party cleared to appear on state ballot

State election officials say the Green Party has turned in enough signatures to appear on the Arkansas ballot next year.

Secretary of State Mark Martin's office on Wednesday told the party that it had verified that 11,166 signatures submitted were from registered voters. The party needed to submit at least 10,000 valid signatures to receive ballot access.

State Green Party Treasurer Mark Jenkins said the party expected to have nominees for the state's top races, including the U.S. Senate and governor's race. Jenkins said the party would choose its nominees at a convention in February.

Martin's office last week said the Libertarian Party had submitted enough signatures to appear on the ballot.
