Arvest Bank pledges $100,000 for Marshals Museum

FORT SMITH — Arvest Bank has pledged a $100,000 founding donor gift to the planned U.S. Marshals Museum in Fort Smith.

The bank says the new facility will complete a "triad of great nationally recognized museums" along with the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock and the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville.

A cornerstone dedication is set for Saturday at the museum site along the Arkansas River. Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese III is to attend the event along with former Marshals Service associate director Howard Safir.

The $50 million museum is scheduled to open in 2016.
