Man forgets loaded gun was in carry-on at Clinton National, police say

An Arkadelphia man was arrested Tuesday after a loaded gun was found in his carry-on luggage at the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport.

Robert Davidson, 45, was charged with carrying a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

According to a Little Rock Police Department arrest report, Davidson had a loaded .45-caliber pistol in his bag when he went through the security checkpoint. The report noted Davidson "forgot [the] weapon was in his luggage."

He was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Davidson was not listed as an inmate at the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning.

It's not the first time a traveler has been arrested with a gun. Two years ago, police said three people were arrested with forgotten firearms in luggage in as many weeks.

A preliminary court date for Davidson is set for Nov. 19.
