Ashdown woman killed in car-train wreck

An Ashdown woman was killed Saturday evening in Little River County after she drove her car into an oncoming train's path, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report.

The accident occurred about 5:58 p.m. in dry and clear conditions, the report states.

Police said Bobbie Calloway, 41, was traveling east in a 2003 Chevy Impala on S. Stuart near Highway 71 when she failed to yield and drove into the path of an oncoming Kansas City Southern train.

Authorities pronounced Calloway dead at the scene.

Calloway's death marks the 435th fatality in traffic accidents on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary reports.
