Authorities found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of a car stopped early Sunday on Interstate 30, according to a Pulaski County sheriff's office report.

The driver, 24-year-old Rashad James of Missouri City, Texas, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police say Deputy Adam Baker pulled over James' 2008 Cadillac shortly before 4 a.m. near the 65th Street exit in Little Rock after noticing the car had a malfunctioning license plate light. It was also speeding and traveling without the plate attached to the bumper, the report said.

The driver, later identified as James, gave Baker permission to search the vehicle. The report noted that the car had a strong odor of air fresheners in it, James was not the listed owner and "the vehicle returned to a known source area for heavy narcotics traffic."

In the trunk, Baker found four cardboard boxes holding a combined 116.8 pounds of marijuana, the report said.

James was taken in for questioning. He was not listed as an inmate at the Pulaski County jail Monday morning.
