Little Rock police are investigating the city's 24th homicide of the year.
Officers were called about 2:35 a.m. Wednesday to the 5800 block of Fisher Street, where they found Shannon Austin, 36, lying in the road with a bullet wound, according to a Little Rock Police Department report. MEMS was called, and paramedics said Austin was dead at the scene after taking a gunshot in his lower abdomen.
A neighbor at the end of the street told police he had just returned home and noticed Austin lying unresponsive, and that his family had been inside their house and didn't hear anything.
Police say they haven't yet established a motive in the shooting or developed a suspect.
The death was the city's 24th homicide of 2013, according to Sgt. Cassandra Davis.
