Authorities are investigating the death of a male student after he was found unresponsive Wednesday morning in the bathroom of a residential hall at the University of Central Arkansas.
According to a news release from the school, authorities responded to a call of an unconscious male student in a bathroom inside Hughes Residential Hall at 8 a.m.
Faulkner County Coroner Patrick Moore said the deceased has been identified as Jaykwantay Girley, 18, of Greenbrier. Girley was a full-time student who had enrolled for the fall 2013 semester, according to the university. He was living in Hughes Hall at the time of his death.
Officials with coroner's office pronounced Girley dead a short time after university police and MEMS personnel located him.
No foul play is suspected at this time, the release states.
“We extend our deepest sympathy to the family. We need to remember them in our thoughts and prayers,” UCA President Tom Courtway said in a statement.
An autopsy has been requested by authorities to determine Girley's official cause of death. Moore added that there is no timeframe on when the results will be released and officials have not yet identified anything in Girley's medical history that might explain his death.
