MORRILTON — The United Methodist Women of First United Methodist Church Morrilton will hold their biannual Market Place and Bake Sale today through Saturday. The Market Place sale will be open from 4-7 p.m. today with a 30 percent markup. The sale will continue from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the marked price, and from 8-11 a.m. Saturday with items $5 per bag or half price. There will be a large variety of gently used items. The bake sale will be held during sale hours Friday. Proceeds from the sale will be used for community-outreach projects and ongoing programs for the church. MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Newcomers monthly coffee will be at 10 a.m. at the home of Deon Green, 128 Navajo Trail in Maumelle. Everyone in the community is invited.
MORRILTON — The Morrilton Depot Museum will hold its fifth annual Antique Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. People are encouraged to bring antiques — furniture, pottery, silver and other treasures — to be appraised by experts from Pinnacle Auction and Estate Services, and John and Phyllis Saugey and Betty and Terry Saugey of Saugey’s Antiques. There will be a $5 donation applied for each three items to be appraised, with proceeds benefiting the museum. There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction.
GREERS FERRY — The Greers Ferry Area Chamber of Commerce will have a fall festival from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Lacey’s Narrows Marina. Events for the whole family will include crafts, games, classic cars, food vendors and entertainment. For more information, call Sharon at (501) 825-6616.
FAIRFIELD BAY — The North Central Arts Foundation for Arts and Education will present Aaron Alfred Lee in concert. The performance will be at 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Kirk of the Hills, 250 Dave Creek Parkway in Fairfield Bay. Lee travels extensively performing recitals and conducting seminars in Europe, Asia, Australia, the Bahama Islands, Canada and the United States. Retired Teachers Meeting
HEBER SPRINGS — The Cleburne County Retired Teachers Association will meet at noon at the Rustic Inn in Heber Springs. Steve Singleton, executive director of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association will be the guest speaker. All retired school personnel are invited to attend.
CONWAY — The Conway League of Artists is taking applications for membership. The league meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the Faulkner County Library in Conway. Yearly dues are $20, and there is a lineup of programs in the making for the coming year. Refreshments are served at meetings. Model Airplane Club Meeting
HEBER SPRINGS — Anyone who builds or flies model airplanes or wants to learn how to do so is invited to the next meeting of the Heber Springs area model airplane club at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10. Mountain Man Rendezvous
LESLIE — The second annual Leslie Mountain Man Rendezvous will be held Oct. 11 and 12. Re-enactors will camp in tents in Leslie and will wear pre-1840s period clothing. The rendezvous will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. There will be knife- and tomahawk-throwing demonstrations, as well as shooting demonstrations. CONWAY — The Conway League of Artists is hosting the annual Tri-County Exhibit at the Faulkner County Library. This exhibit is open to artists in Conway, Faulkner and Perry counties. There is more than $1,500 in prize money to be awarded along with other awards. The Conway League of Artists will be taking entries from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at the library, and those participating must be a member or join the Conway League of Artists. CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library and the University of Central Arkansas’ Confucius Institute will offer Adventures in Chinese Culture at 2 p.m. Oct. 12. Participants will learn the traditional Chinese tea ceremony. The class is limited to 30 people, and sign-up is required. Also, a class on Chinese paper crafts will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 26. Patrons need to bring their own scissors. A third class, on making Chinese dumplings, will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 16. The class is limited to 20 people, and sign-up is required.
